The always impressive (Son of) Zamboni is sharing a nice selection of Beach Boys Japanese Pastmasters - a unique set of reissues transferred directly from the master tapes. No compression, no tweaking or any of the futuristic nonsense they do to “improve” the sound in your run-of-the mill reissues. Friends, the band’s first true stereo LP, sounds particularly awesome. Thanks, Ian.
After the double disc London Calling and the triple Sandinista!, it seems the Clash had grown used to releasing multiple disc LPs. Even Combat Rock was originally planned as a double album called Rat Patrol From Fort Bragg, though the concept never made it beyond Mick Jones’ initial set of mixes. Well, here they are, sounding quite nice to my ears with a second disc full of edits, instrumentals and alternates.
