Well, this is curious. Without much fanfare, the Rolling Stones have opened their official archives at StonesArchive.com. Their first offering is the long-bootlegged “Brussels Affair” recorded on 10.17.73 in, well, Brussels. Though it’s currently unavailable to customers in the states, the entire show is offered at a pretty reasonable $7 for mp3s, $9 for FLAC. Soundcloud clips are available at the archive page, and the quality is impeccable. This could be the start of something quite awesome.
I’ve been on a strict David Axelrod diet lately, mostly the heavily sampled late 60s/early 70s Capitol Records material. Mind blowing orchestral psych. Head to Know Your Conjurer for The Edge, a great compilation from that period. 1975’s Seriously Deep is a whole different beast. Straight up jazz funk, meticulously composed and almost completely absent of the orchestration that defined his classic era, yet equally essential. Get it!
